Gardaí to make statement about suspended officer

Gardaí are preparing to issue a statement after a member of the force was suspended from duty.

It follows allegations that the garda had "inappropriate sexual relations" with a 16-year-old boy, who it is alleged he was in a relationship with.

It is understood a garda superintendent has been appointed to investigate the claims.
