Tipp road crash kills elderly woman

Another life has been lost on the country's roads this weekend.

An elderly woman has died following a two-car crash on the Dundrum road, about nine kilometres outside of Thurles in Co. Tipperary.

The crash happened at around 11am this morning.

The male driver of the second car involved in the crash has been arrested and is being questioned at Thurles Garda station.

Drivers are being warned the road is closed from The Green in Holycross to Bord na Cruishe Cross on the Dundrum Road.

It follows a fatal crash in Co. Cork last night, when an 80-year-old man was killed by a car which struck him at Dromahane Cross in Dromore.
