Ireland to avoid worst of snowfall

Met Éireann said today that the severe weather which is expected to hit parts of Britain over the next 24 hours will not effect Ireland.

The UK Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for Northern Britain and Scotland.

Up to 10 centimetres of snow is expected to fall and there is a possibility that heavy snowfall could cause travel disruption in Scotland.

"For tonight and tomorrow there will be wintry showers of hail and maybe some snow, but nothing like 10cm," said forecaster Clara Finkilla.
