Motorists to pay less at toll roads after High Court action

Motorists using the M1 motorway to Belfast are today paying 10 cent less for their trip.

It follows a High Court ruling yesterday in favour of lowering the toll.

The action was brought by the National Roads Authority against Celtic Roads, who operate the toll, and found that motorists had been overcharged since January.

Drivers using three of the country's other tolled roads can also expect a drop in tolls within days.

Meanwhile, the Lord Mayor of Drogheda in Co Louth Paul Bell says excess tolls charged on the M1 could be given to charity.
