Dutch truck driver pleads guilty in €5.6m heroin case

The trial of a Dutch truck driver, who had been charged in relation to the attempted importation of €5.6m worth of heroin into Ireland, has ended after he pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting in an offence.

The trial of a Dutch truck driver, who had been charged in relation to the attempted importation of €5.6m worth of heroin into Ireland, has ended after he pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting in an offence.

Jan Stuurmann (aged 41) of Curran Ard, Athy, Co Kildare pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, following two days of legal argument, to unlawfully aiding and abetting in the importation of heroin at New Custom House, Dublin on December 16, 2008.
