Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information about the death of a Polish woman in County Kerry to contact them.

The woman's body was discovered in a house in Tralee yesterday afternoon.

The alarm was raised following a call to the emergency services in Tralee at 3pm yesterday afternoon.

Emergency service personnel gained entry to the house in the Deerpark Estate and found the body of the Polish woman, named locally as Katarzyna Bartowiaka.

Her two-year-old son was also in the house.

A forensic examination of the scene will continue this morning.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the Deerpark Estate in the last number of days to contact them in Tralee on 066 7102300 or the Garda confidential line on 1 800 666 111.

In a related investigation, a search is to continue this morning for a man who went into the sea in Ballybunion last night.

It is understood Gardaí had been in contact with the man before he entered the water at around 10pm.
