Independent TDs look to form technical group

A meeting of the country's Independent TDs is underway in Dublin this evening.

A total of 19 Independents have been elected so far to the 31st Dáil.

They are hoping to form a technical group, which will allow them more speaking time in the Dáil.

"I think its essential that we have strong voices of opposition to represent the weaker sections of society," said Independent TD for Dublin North Central, Finian McGrath.

"That’s my agenda, and I’ll fight like hell for it."
