FG take another seat in Dun Laoghaire

Fine Gael's Mary Mitchell O'Connor has been elected in Dun Laoghaire.

Fine Gael's Mary Mitchell O'Connor has been elected in Dun Laoghaire.

Richard Boyd Barrett of the People Before Profit Party and Fianna Fáil's Mary Hanafin are in the running for the final seat of the four-seat constituency.

She hass described the campaign as "difficult and upsetting", saying she often had tears in her eyes listening to the hardships people have had to endure in recent years.

She said what the public needs now is a strong Government - whether that be made up of Fine Gael and a group of Independents or with Labour.
