Outgoing Fianna Fáil TD Ned O’Keefe has predicted that his party will end up with just 22 seats after all the votes are counted.
O'Keeffe who previously represented the party in Cork East said Fianna Fáil lost touch with the people.
“We (Fianna Fáil) strayed away from the Irish people. We became a party of golfers,” he said.
“We became a party of racers…adjourn the Dáil for a week for Cheltenham. I go racing myself, but I don’t believe in that.
“We were to go to America for a week for Patrick’s Day; these are the issues that upset the people.
“We had the Galway tent...and the people have reacted violently to that.”
