Gardaí investigate stabbing of two prison officers in Limerick

Gardaí and prison authorities are investigating an alleged attack on two prison officers at Limerick Jail.

The pair were allegedly stabbed by an inmate after he lured them into his cell, where a fire had broken out.

The two male prison officers were taken to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick and are said to be recovering from the ordeal.

The inmate in question has been put in an isolated unit at the prison.
