Man held as fuel laundering plant uncovered in Louth
Customs officials have uncovered a large fuel laundering plant in Co Louth.
It was found near Hackballscross in Dundalk this morning.
The plant has the capacity to launder around seven and a half million litres of fuel per year with a potential loss to the Exchequer of around €4.5m per year.
Customs seized 25,000 litres of laundered fuel at the plant this morning.
Ancillary equipment was also dismantled and seized.
A man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with the incident.
