Prayers offered for Cork plane-crash victims

Prayers have been offered at religious services in Cork today for the victims of Thursday's plane crash at Cork Airport.

Six people died and six were injured when the Manx2 commuter plane came down after a third attempt to land in thick fog.

Full services resumed at the airport yesterday.

Director of nursing at Cork University Hospital Dr Mary Boyd said the gravity of what occurred may have yet to set in for the survivors and the emergency service workers who attended the scene.

She said counselling sessions would be organised for patients and their relatives. Those services will also be made available to hospital staff, should they want them.
