Cork Airport resumes full flights schedule
Cork Airport is resuming full operations this morning following a two-day closure in the wake of Thursday's plane crash in which six men died.
The wreckage of the Manx2 commuter aircraft was removed from the scene of the accident last night for more detailed examination in the Department of Transport's Air Accident Investigation Unit's facilities in Gormanstown in Co Meath.
The badly damaged fuselage was removed last night and stored overnight.
Four of the six survivors of the crash remain in a serious condition at Cork University Hospital, where they are expected to stay for up two weeks.
Graham Liddy, one of the investigators, said it appeared the right wing of the aircraft hit the runway before overturning, but that more information had to be gathered before anything definitive could be said about the moment of impact.
"We have a lot of the jigsaw, but we don't have the full jigsaw at this point," he said, adding data had yet to be gathered from the on-board flight data recorders.
Cork Airport reopened before 8pm last night to some traffic and a full schedule of flights is resuming today.
