Kinsale mum 'in good spirits' at hospital after crash ordeal
The Kinsale mother-of-two who miraculously survived yesterday’s Manx2 crash was said to be in remarkably good spirits today, despite her ordeal.
Heather Elliott is being treated in the Cork University Hospital but is expected to make a full recovery from her injuries. Mrs Elliott, whose maiden name is Peare, is a nurse who works at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
Aged 42, she has lived in Belfast for many years but regularly returns to Cork to visit her mother and brother in Kinsale.
She was the only woman among the ten passengers and two crew on the flight.
Mrs Elliott is the daughter of the late Oliver Peare, who was rector of St Multose in Kinsale for 23 years. The current rector, Canon David Williams, said he had spoken to Mrs Elliott and said she was in a comfortable condition.
“I visited Heather and she is in remarkably good spirits considering what she has been through. She is still in a state of shock and was being treated for her injuries at the A&E department, but she should make a full recovery.
“Other family members have spent the day in hospital with her. But the emergency services have been superb in the way that they’ve responded to this.
“It’s such an awful tragedy, but it’s wonderful that some of the passengers survived,” he said.
Mrs Elliott has a brother Nigel who lives in Asia and another brother David who runs the Quay Food Company, a speciality food shop based in Kinsale.
