A post mortem examination will be carried out on the body of a man shot dead in Cork yesterday.

A post mortem examination will be carried out on the body of a man shot dead in Cork yesterday.

Packie Hogan, who was in this thirties, was shot a number of times outside a car near Waterloo in Blarney at around 4pm yesterday.

Three people were arrested shortly afterwards and remain in garda custody.

Mr Hogan is believed to have been wounded a number of times, and the gunman fired at least five shots.

A post mortem on Mr Hogan's remains is due to be conducted later today at Cork University Hospital.

The three suspects were detained shortly after the incident and are being held at Gurranabraher and Mayfield garda stations.

Mr Hogan sold cars and ran a scrap-metal business in Waterloo.
