The Taoiseach Brian Cowen is travelling to Cork after today's fatal plane crash, in which six people died.

The Taoiseach Brian Cowen is travelling to Cork after today's fatal plane crash, in which six people died.

Another six people were taken to hospital after the Manx-Two commuter service from Belfast crashed on landing.

Mr Cowen said he was shocked and saddened at the news from Cork, and added: "My thoughts are with all of those affected by this morning’s crash, including the families and friends of those who have died.

"I also want to send my best wishes and those of the Government, to all of those who survived the crash and are being treated in hospital at present."

He commended the work of emergency crews who attended the scene of the crash.

The Taoiseach will be briefed by authorities at Cork Airport and Cork University Hospital and will brief the media between 4.30pm and 5pm at the airport.
