Boyle blasts FG over public sector redundancy plans

Green Party chairman Dan Boyle has accused Fine Gael of telling lies about its public service redundancy plan.

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny said his party can slash more than 17,000 public sector jobs without affecting frontline services.

But Senator Boyle has said that is not only an untruth, it is a lie, and the Croke Park Agreement is the best way to deliver effective savings in the public service.

The Green Party chairman said Fine Gael's proposals don't stand up to scrutiny.

"17,000 jobs means less nurses, less gardaí, less doctors, less teachers," Senator Boyle said.

"And there is no finer way of putting a point on it."
