Garda Ombudsman to investigate death at Garda station

An investigation is underway by the Garda Ombudsman Commission into the death of a man in Tuam Garda Station in the early hours of this morning.

The man who is in his 30's was arrested by Gardaí at 12.30am for suspected public order offences.

The man became ill and an ambulance was called to the station.

The man was pronounced dead at around 4am.

A post mortem is expected to be carried out later today.
