The jury in the trial of a former Mountjoy prisoner accused of murdering another inmate at the jail four years ago, has been sent home for the night after failing to reach a verdict.

Declan O'Reilly, from Parnell Road in Crumlin, Dublin has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Derek Glennon in June 2007.

The 24-year-old died in the Mater hospital after he was stabbed during a fight.

The jury at the Central Criminal Court began considering deliberations this afternoon, but by 4pm had failed to reach a verdict and was sent home for the evening.
