No February edition for Sunday Tribune as investor sought

The Sunday Tribune will not publish an edition of the newspaper this weekend, nor for the remainder of February.

The 43 staff at the newspaper have been informed of the decision.

A receiver was appointed to the publication yesterday after a decision by Independent News and Media - which holds a 29.9% shareholding - that ongoing funding of the newspaper was no longer viable.

Editor of the Sunday Tribune Noreen Hegarty said it was still hoped a buyer could be found.

"The receiver is still actively seeking an investor for the business," she said. "We will be paid until February 28…After that, it's uncertain."
