Micheál Martin is insisting that three Fianna Fáil candidates will be on the party ticket in Galway West.

Minister Eamon O'Cuiv, Deputy Frank Fahey and Councillor Michael Crowe are all contesting the election in the constituency.

But with the party polling only in the late teens, it is widely accepted that three candidates is too much and will split the vote, putting another seat in danger.

Speaking during a walk-about in Galway City this afternoon, Micheal Martin however insisted three candidates is the right strategy for the constituency.

"This is a large constituency and as I have said repeatedly, every constituency is different," the Fianna Fáil leader said.
