Five men and three women were arrested today over a gangland linked pub shooting around the turn of the year.

Five men and three women were arrested today over a gangland linked pub shooting around the turn of the year.

The men, aged 26 to 46, and the women aged 26, 29 and 31, were taken in for questioning over an attack in the Cappagh Nua pub in Finglas, north Dublin.

A 40-year-old man was targeted in the bar on December 30 in an apparent attempted murder.

The suspects were detained under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

They were taken for questioning at several Garda stations including Bray, Dun Laoghaire, Blanchardstown, Finglas and Cabra.
