Customs seize eight million cigarettes in Co Louth

Eight million smuggled cigarettes and two trucks have been seized in Co Louth.

Custom officers and Gardaí made the discovery near Drogheda after the Benson and Hedges brand cigarettes arrived into Dublin Port on a container from China.

They had a potential loss to the Exchequer of around €3m.

Two men were arrested and investigations are ongoing.
