Gardaí investigating a shooting in a pub in north Dublin are appealing for witnesses to make contact with them.

A man in his forties is critically ill in hospital this morning after he was shot a number of times in the Cappagh House pub in Finglas when a gunman opened fire inside the bar.

The incident happened at around 8.30pm last night.

The scene has been sealed off for a technical examination and gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to come forward.

It is believed the man is being treated for gunshot wounds to the upper body at Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown.
