Taxi man attacked in Dublin

Gardaí in Dublin are appealing for witnesses after a taxi man was attacked on the North Strand Road.

The incident happened just before 4am on Monday morning near the local fire station.

A taxi - a white Mazda with an 01 D registration - stopped to pick up two men who then threatened the driver and stole a sum of money.

The taxi driver was injured and was treated at the Mater Hospital.

The men - who are both in their thirties - fled the scene on foot in the direction of Poplar Row.

Gardaí at Fitzgibbon Street are appealing to anyone with any information to come forward.

In particular they would like to speak to a second taxi driver who is believed to have witnessed the incident.
