First of five shipments of salt arrives in Cork

A shipment of more than 6,000 tonnes of salt to grit the country's roads is due to arrive into the Port of Cork around now.

A fleet of trucks is standing by to distribute the supplies to local authorities around the country, which say teams will continue to work over the holidays to make the roads safer for motorists.
