Community in shock after girl's snowboarding death in Cork
An investigation is underway following yesterday's fatal snowboarding accident in Cork city, in which a teenage girl died.
The 15-year-old died after a board carrying four teenagers went out of control and collided with a tree at Frankfield Golf Club near Douglas.
Two of the teenagers, a boy and a girl, remain in a serious but stable condition at Cork University Hospital.
The second boy was discharged overnight.
Local councillor Jim Corr said the community was in shock.
"Children are always enjoying the snow, and the last thing we think of is a young person losing his or her life…It must be a dreadful shock to the girl's parents and to the entire community," he said.
