Black ice and freezing fog warning

Drivers were warned of black ice and freezing fog today as the country endured another night of sub-zero temperatures.

Met Éireann said dense fog would be widespread and linger most of the day in midland areas.

But wintry showers are expected to be confined to the north and north-west.

Temperatures will remain a chilly 3C to 5C, before potentially plummeting as low as minus 9C tonight.

Iarnród Éireann said it was operating a full service throughout Intercity, DART and Commuter routes except M3 Parkway to Clonsilla.

Bus Éireann said some of its services were still experiencing delays and disruption, mostly on the east coast, while Dublin Bus routes will suffer diversions and curtailments.

The Luas is running a full service, but Connolly Stop remains closed.
