Driving conditions across Ireland were hazardous today following another night of sub-zero temperatures.

Motorists were advised to watch out for black ice and freezing fog, but Met Éireann said the worst of the snowfall was over for now.

A jack-knifed truck blocked the M9 Dublin to Waterford Road south of Carlow, and gardaí appealed for motorists to slow down.

Conditions on several main routes in Cork were dangerous, including the M8 between Cahir and Mitchelstown, and the N25 between Youghal and the Jack Lynch tunnel. All routes at Youghal were impassable.

Caution was advised on the N7 Dublin to Limerick road, and there was black ice across Co Galway.

In Dublin there was a thaw but many roads were still dangerous, especially on higher ground.

The cold weather is expected to continue into the middle of next week.

A radio transmitter on Three Rock Mountain which serves Dublin Bus was not working.
