Talks on so-called 'privilege days' for civil servants will get underway later between union representatives and officials from the Department of Finance.

Lower-paid civil servants are expected to keep their controversial two days extra leave, on top of bank holidays, in return for giving up 30 minutes per week to cash their paycheques.

The changes are part of a review under the public sector reform scheme.
