FF TDs set to call for Cowen's resignation
A number of Fianna Fáil TDs are reported to be considering calling for the Taoiseach Brian Cowen's resignation today.
The Government is set to begin formal discussions on the international rescue package by holding talks with the IMF and Europe.
While Mr Cowen said he won't be resigning, a number of protests are being organised for this week to call on the Coalition to go.
The Government is looking for loans totalling tens of billions of euro to run the country and fund the banks.
But the Taoiseach is adamant it is not a situation of handing the country over to the IMF.
The Government's four-year plan is expected to be published on Wednesday with the Government saying it will work alongside the loans.
Finance Minister Brian Lenihan has said changing our banking system is also required, but there are rumblings that a number of Fianna Fáil TDs are lining up to call on Brian Cowen to resign, and will do so today.
But the Taoiseach is insisting he is not to blame.
