Hundreds pay respects to four murdered in Limerick

A large crowd of people has attended a prayer meeting in the town of Newcastle West in Limerick in memory of the four people murdered there last Tuesday.

Newscastle West Parish Priest, Canon Frank Duhig, said such an incident is "hard to understand".

Around 400 people attended the event at the Church of The Immaculate Conception to pay their respects.

25-year-old Sarah Hines and her three-year-old son Reece and five-month-old daughter Amy along with her 20-year-old friend Alicia Brough from Cork were found stabbed to death in the town.

A 31-year-old man arrested on suspicion of carrying out the murders has been taken back into custody after been treated for hand injuries at Cork University Hospital.
