Sleepwalking settlement set for Supreme Court appeal

The largest libel settlement in Irish history is set to be appealed to the Supreme Court.

Louth businessman Donal Kinsella - who sleepwalked naked to a colleague's bedroom on a business trip - won his libel action yesterday evening and was awarded €10m in damages.

Mr Kinsella, of Woodpark in Dunleer sued mining company Kenmare Resources over a press release issued in July 2008 by the company in the wake of the incident.

He was exonerated of misconduct by an internal investigation after he sleepwalked naked to his colleague Deirdre Corcoran’s room on the business trip to Mozambique in 2007.

However the company says it will "immediately and vigorously" appeal to the Supreme Court.
