Two Irish on Gaza aid ship held by Greek authorities
Two Irish citizens are on board a ship containing aid supplies for Gaza being investigated by the Greek authorities near Athens, it has emerged.
A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs says a serious dispute broke on the boat between the Libyan crew and captain and the organisers of the aid convoy.
He said a consular official from the Irish Embassy met the Irish citizens last night and is liaising with the Greek authorities.
One of the Irishmen on board the boat is film-maker David Calendar. He claims that they are being held against their will in a hostage-type situation.
