AA: Speed cameras 'not a money making venture'
The AA has said the new speed cameras being rolled out at collision blackspots next week are not "a money making venture".
The Association said the experience in other countries, including France and Sweden, is that they have reduced fatalities by almost a third in blackspot areas.
Up to 45 new Gatso vans will be based at 600 locations, the details of which will be posted on websites attached to the Gardaí and the AA.
The Director of AA Ireland Conor Faughnan said: "The cameras should save lives."
