Kennedy questioned as part of planning probe

Gardaí in Dublin were today still questioning a businessman at the centre of alleged planning corruption.

Jim Kennedy was arrested on Arran Quay yesterday afternoon as he left a High Court hearing about land in Carrickmines that had been investigated by the Mahon Tribunal.

The Criminal Assets Bureau had wanted to question the 63-year-old for several years but he had been living in Gibraltar.

The businessman - who was also involved in running an amusement arcade on Dublin's Westmoreland Street - refused to attend the Mahon Tribunal.

He is being questioned at Irishtown Garda Station about alleged bribery offences and can be detained for up to 12 hours.
