Congress calls for more time to reduce deficit

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) is calling on the Government to extend the time frame of its plan to reduce the budget deficit to 3% of GDP by 2014.

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) is calling on the Government to extend the time frame of its plan to reduce the budget deficit to 3% of GDP by 2014.

ICTU says there is no science behind the 2014 deadline, and claims that extending the period of adjustment to 2017 is more realistic.
