Dead man believed to have been punched in pub row

A Garda investigation is underway after a man was found dead in Co. Wicklow last night.

The 48-year-old was found outside Fitzgerald's pub on the Main Street shortly after 9pm.

It is understood he was punched during the course of a row.

Gardaí were called to the pub sometime after 9pm last night after a woman who was driving by noticed a man on the ground outside.

Gardaí say they are following a definite line of inquiry.

A post mortem will be carried out later on man's body and a team from the garda technical bureau has arrived this morning to begin an examination of the scene.

Gardaí in Arcklow are heading up the investigation and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
