Departments hits back in sham marriages row

A spokesman for the Department of Justice has tonight rejected the claim that the Government has been slow to act in regard to sham marriages.

He said Minister Dermot Ahern had consistently raised the issue in Europe and had called for a tightening of EU regulations.
