Gardaí issue appeal following death of Cavan assault victim

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to an assault in Co. Cavan a month ago after the 73-year-old victim died in hospital last night.

The pensioner was found with serious injuries at his home in Nedd, Killeshandra on September 7.

He was brought to Cavan General Hospital where he lost his fight for life last night.

Investigating officers on September 11 arrested a man who was questioned at Ballyconnell Garda Station but was later released without charge.

Gardaí are now appealing for anyone with information to contact them at Ballyconnell.

They are especially interested in hearing from people that may have been in the vicinity of Nedd, in Doogary between 8pm on Monday September 6, and 11am on Tuesday September 7.
