Two brothers are due to go on trial at the Central Criminal Court today accused of murdering a Co Offaly farmer three years ago.

Two brothers are due to go on trial at the Central Criminal Court today accused of murdering a Co Offaly farmer three years ago.

Daniel-Joseph Byrne and Jason Byrne, of Hammer Lane, Borness, Mountmellick in Co Laois deny the charge in a case expected to go on for three weeks.

They are accused of killing 49-year-old father of two Edward Dempsey who died in 2007, several months after an alleged incident at their farmyard on December 18, 2006.
