Estranged husband and wife found dead
An estranged husband and wife have been found dead in separate locations in the North, police said today.
A 33-year-old woman was found in the Carnbeg Meadows area of Antrim shortly after 8.30am.
Ten minutes later the body of a 34-year-old man was found in the Parkgate Road area of Kells, Co Antrim, in a red Ford Escort in a car park.
A Police Service of Northern Ireland spokeswoman said detectives were appealing for anyone who heard a disturbance in the Carnbeg Meadows area at around 3am to come forward.
Local Ulster Unionist Party councillor Adrian Watson, who knew them, said the area was shocked by the deaths.
“When the news started breaking, friends and family, everybody was in total shock,” he said.
“With a young family, lovely house, everything seemed to have been going quite well.
“Certainly no-one would have suspected this event would have been brought to their door. A complete shock to everybody.”
Mr Watson said they were well known and liked in the area.
The PSNI said they were also keen to trace the movements of the Ford Escort, registration R257BMY, between 2am and 6am.
Detectives from the PSNI’s Serious Crime branch are investigating.
