The former head of Bank of Ireland has said he does not believe the thinking of the banks has changed since the current crisis hit.

The former head of Bank of Ireland has said he does not believe the thinking of the banks has changed since the current crisis hit.

Mike Soden said the banks may have to re-think their customer-services strategy and advised anyone looking for a mortgage to go to a broker.

"The banks actually think they are (still) working for the shareholders (as that word applied in pre-crisis banking)…Today, the shareholder happens to be all of us," he said.
