Ireland-hosted conference on world hunger gets underway
Ireland and the US are co-hosting a major hunger summit in New York which gets underway today.
The two-day event will be attended by the US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, along with world leaders and international organisations.
It is designed to highlight action on world hunger and under-nutrition with particular emphasis on pregnant women and children up to the age of two.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs Michael Martin is attending along with the Minister for Overseas Development, Peter Power.
