Cancer society outlines benefits of exercise in cancer fight

Up to 30 minutes a day, or 2 to 3 hours of physical activity over five days, can improve breast cancer survival by up to 50% and reduce the risk of a recurrence, according to the Irish Cancer Society.

The society is piloting a new exercise programme with breast cancer survivors.

It is estimated that women in Ireland have a 1-in-10 chance of developing breast cancer during the course of their lifetime.
