Monaghan youth dies after being found on road

A post mortem will be carried out on the body of a 19-year-old Monaghan man, who died after being found in a semi-conscious state on a road last night.

The man was discovered late last night on a border roadway near Hackballscross a few miles from Dundalk.

Gardaí believe the man's death may be linked to the use of an illicit substance at a late-night party in the border area.

Detectives have revealed there were concerns in the area recently about the quality of some illegal substances believed to be on sale in the border region.
