Inquiry into effect of 'tourist tax'

The impact of the €10 flight tax on visitor numbers is to be measured ahead of the Budget.

The Sunday Times reports the Minister for Tourism Mary Hanafin gave the go ahead to the inquiry to establish if the levy was a factor in airlines shutting down routes from Ireland.

It follows direct appeals by airlines and tourism groups for the abolition of the tax.
