Gormley calls for Poolbeg contract to be made public

The Environment Minister John Gormley is calling on Dublin City Council to make public the contract it holds with Covanta for the proposed Poolbeg incinerator.

Mr Gormley said the council needs to come clean on the contents of the deal which it emerged last week contained a break clause that expired yesterday.

Officials from Dublin City Council are to brief councillors tonight on the issue.

However, Mr Gormley has said the contract has been shrouded in secrecy and must now be made public knowledge.
