HSE continues TB probe in Cork

The HSE says it is continuing its investigation into three cases of tuberculosis in Cork, as all pupils attending the affected primary school and their teachers are tested.

Some 220 pupils and staff from Ballintemple National School and the families of the three children who tested positive for infection will be offered screening in the chest clinic of St Finbarr's Hospital, Cork.

The three youngsters, who all live in the Cork city area, have started treatment under specialist paediatric care.

According to the HSE, there have been 53 cases of TB in the Cork/Kerry region so far this year.
