Improvised weapons seized in Garda raid

A car, industrial machinery and slash hooks were seized today in a Garda raid on an unofficial halting site following a shooting.

The Garda air and regional support units were drafted in for the searches of property at a roadside in Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo.

The operation was linked to a shotgun attack in which a man suffered minor wounds yesterday near the site.

A Garda spokesman said no arrests were made.

Seized items including generators and spray machines, improvised weapons and the car were taken away for further examination.
